Few month ago, we were receiving an email from Sarah who invited us to participate to an event organized by the association ACTES in the University of Avignon. The occasion for us to try the new speech we just made about Hopineo, and observe in live how it works with the students, and most of all, meet new enriching people.
The intervention program in Avignon
As an introduction, we often start our interventions with a little physical exercise: we invite them to stand up if they answer yes to the questions we ask. The idea is that, at the end, everybody is up… The first question always is “Do you know Hopineo?”.
Usually, at this stage, only 2 or 3 people get up… But last Friday, a quarter of the amphitheater got up! Well, this conference were starting good :-)!
We then made our presentation, presenting first the new introduction video, before reprecising the issues Hopineo is hoping to answer, explaining how we are giving a piece of answer and finally proposing some examples of #Swaps made those last 18 months across the globe.
Students and the other participants of this event showed a bright interest, and we had some nice talks. At thee end of our presentation, ultimate exercice to know who in the audience would be willing to become a HopTriper… the answer below:
Nice encounters and nice opportunities
This day was also the occasion for new encounters:
- With Laurent Arcuset, director of the program Social and Solidarity Tourism and Economy (that seems to be the only one in France… Or at least the first one). Besides, Laurent is a consultant with his compagny Geosystème, and a local politician in his municipality. As for the follow-up, it is Julien (part of the Hopineo team, living in Avignon) who will continue with Laurent and the University of Avignon for the promising partnership…
- Benedicte Tabone, etourism professional, and specifically online distribution, who showed a very clear presentation on the subject. She also work with hoteliers to help them with their independentisation (it is not really a word but you understood, right?) strategy from the big OTAs we wouldn’t mention here. And again, we are now working on an eventual collaboration.
- And finally, Lucien Stanzione, spokesman of ICD Afrique, an NGO that work on co-development issues, and especially in solidarity tourism in Senegal. A luck for us and we hope we will be able to visit the concerned camps during our HopTour in West Africa
All the interventions were a success and the closing debates were rich and very interesting.
For now, after a nice Skype meeting with the Hopineo Team, we are enjoying our last day in Avignon with the family. Tomorrow is the big day! We are finally ready for adventure!! And over excited !! 🙂
