Thursday, January 21st 2016. We are writing this directly from the TGV (fast train), heading South, for a conference in the university of Avignon where we will be talking tomorrow. The departure for West Africa is in 4 days. The good byes are done, the bags are ready, let’s go for the adventure. And well, we have to admit that we are getting a little bit stressed out from the departure (but well stressed out not bad stressed out. Stressed out to go even further, even higher 😉 ).
The farewell party and the crowdfunding
As we mentioned in our last newsletter, thanks to wonderful Louis, we had the chance to organize a great farewell party at the Dalva restaurant, in the very heart of Paris. The restaurant had reserved the whole 2nd floor just for us. So the 40ish people that went through that night were way comfortable enough :).
It’s been the occasion to, first of all, say good bye to our closest ones, but also to show the new introduction video of Hopineo, the new website, and to launch the crowdfunding campaign that had an amazing kick off since over 1 600€ have been collected within the first 24 hours ! A huge thank you to all the contributors (past or future), we are extremely moved. A big thanks to our partners as well, thanks to whom we can offer wonderful counterparts.

Thank you everyone for coming, we had a delicious night!
Let’s head South…
Yesterday, last marathon day. Our bags were ready, and we were really proud because they were not full at all! And then, we weighed them… 22kg for one, 15kg for the other… We don’t want more than a total of 33kg for both. Happened logically after the negociations… “Are you really sure to take this shirt?”, “Well, I don’t think you are going to were those pants…”, “Um, no need to take your organizer, don’t you think?”, “you are really going to take your Rhassoul?”.
We finally managed to unload our bags and are now at 33kg in total. Our little fingers might say we going to let a few more things at our friend Julien.
Yes, because as we like to take our time, departure will happen in two steps. First, heading to Avignon for the day at the University as we have been invited by ACTES, and then a few days at our friend Julien (that you can find on the team page) for a breather before the big departure monday: Marseille-Madrid-Dakar.
We are getting more and more impatient!
NB : as we are always that lucky with public transportation, we are now accusing a 45 mintures delay, before of a problem on a train ahead of us. But nevermind. We are happy. We are moving on.
